These are visuals for helping students remember plus and minus. We would introduce this by telling the students a story about a brother and sister. The sister's name is "Plus" and she loves to put things together, and her brother's name is "Minus", but he likes to take things apart. Plus had apples from the apple orchard. First she picked 2, and then got 3 more. She put them all together and got 5! Minus took her 5 apples and ate 3 of them, leaving behind 2 apples. You can make the story longer or shorter based upon your kids' interest level. We keep the visuals up in the room to help them remember which sign to use.
