Looking for a great excuse to watch a Disney movie in class? Then this freebie is for you!
This activity is a great way to assess whether your students understand the true story of Pocahontas, John Smith, and Jamestown. As your students watch the film have them keep in mind how the Disney story compares and contrasts with the true story of Pocahontas. After the viewing, your students will take on the role of a movie reviewer for a history magazine who has been tasked with reviewing Pocahontas. On their review form students give the movie a rating out of five stars, discuss the plot, explain their opinion on the movie, and, most importantly, note what the film got right and what it got wrong.
