Product Description
These springtime bug-themed pocket chart sentence builders are the perfect way to create a fun and engaging pocket chart center that your students will be able to complete independently! This product comes complete with sentence builder cards and 3 different levels of recording sheets featuring simple, predictable text and basic sight words. Your students will love being able to move/manipulate the cards to build their sentences about adorable colorful bugs! This activity is perfect for center rotations. It can also be used as a whole group lesson or a reading intervention activity.

You Will Receive:

*A total of eleven pocket chart sentence frames using the predictable text “This is my _____ bug”
*Eleven color word cards (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, gray, white, brown, black)
*Eleven matching colorful bug picture cue cards to complete each sentence
*3 Different levels of recording sheets; students will pick their favorite sentence and complete one of the following:
-Option 1: Fill in the missing color word in the sentence
-Option 2: Fill in the missing color word and trace the sentence
-Option 3: Write the whole sentence independently
-Each option provides a black-line bug for students to color.
*”Colorful Bugs” Emergent Reader (black-line and color versions; perfect for guided reading groups or independent practice)

Implementation Instructions:

*Simply print, cut, laminate, and add to your pocket chart. I usually assemble the beginning of the sentence (This is my) in each pocket on the chart, and leave the color words and picture cue words out for students to add. You may want to build one example sentence at the top of the chart for students to follow. You could put the color words and picture cue words in baggies/small baskets, or add them to an extra pocket at the bottom of your chart. You can also leave all of the words out and have students build the sentences from scratch. I add some fun pointers that students can use to point to each word in their sentence as they read it!
*Place the recording sheet of your choice on clipboards for students to complete once they are finished assembling and reading the sentences in the chart.

I hope this product helps your students build confidence in their reading skills!
