Pocket Chart Sentences for Kindergarten and First Grade: ALL YEAR!
This set makes it super easy to update your reading or writing center! It includes 10 sets of pocket chart sentences to use all year! This product includes the following themes: back to school, fall, Thanksgiving, winter, gingerbread, Valentine’s Day, spring, summer, fun activities, and pets. Each set includes 5 pocket chart sentences to cut apart and scramble. Over 70 Dolch sight words are used!
DIRECTIONS: Laminate the sentences. As you cut each sentence apart, add a number to the back. For example, I add #1 to the back of each word in the first sentence, as well as a theme title (such as “spring”) in case the sentences and/or sets get mixed up in storage or temporarily lost. These labels also make it easy for students to fix the center in case the pocket chart drops. All the #1 words go on the first pocket, #2 words are on second pocket, and so on.
I mix up each sentence in the set at the beginning of the day. The students who are assigned to the center will unscramble each sentence. Then, they use clipboards and half sheets of paper (lined or unlined) to rewrite the sentences. I find it more efficient (and less wasteful) to not provide a recording sheet for this. Let me know what you think!
