Build the story with your students.
Build the first sentence and then have students build the rest either at a center or whole group.
Differentiate by using color word cards in color or black and white.
After building sentences, students can match the correct color cat.
Place cats in pocket chart without color words. Students find the correct sentence and fill in the blank space with a color word.
Remove various words and students figure out what is missing and fill in the blanks. Students can use other sentences to help figure out which word is correct.
Use writing worksheet included to practice writing the sight words but, it. Students read the sentence and color the each cat to match the color word. Cover up the pocket chart or remove cats to create a reading challenge!
3 versions of writing sheet are included so you can decide which color word to use - white, black or gray
I hope your students enjoy this as much as mine do!
