This is an excerpt from the complete Pockets Change Financial Literacy Curriculum, which teaches students personal finance skills, entrepreneurship, stock market, and real estate basics. All lessons are also tied to common core and national standards. They are differentiated and use experiential learning techniques and help students hone 21st century learning skills.
This lesson is the introduction to the notion of budgeting your money. Students will learn how to separate their funds into five different categories, or accounts, and determine what types of purchases fit into each category. They will also be introduced to the idea of investing and three common investment vehicles – stocks, business, and real estate.
