This is an excerpt from the complete Pockets Change Financial Literacy Curriculum, which teaches students personal finance skills, entrepreneurship, stock market, and real estate basics. All lessons are also tied to common core and national standards. They are differentiated and use experiential learning techniques and help students hone 21st century learning skills.
Unit 1 contains three lessons, which include standards, activity description, key terms, and all necessary worksheets. Lessons cover:
Money Personalities - help your students explore the six money personalities and determine whether they are a saver, spender, worrier, amasser, money monk, or avoider.
Money Habits and Philosophies - teach your students time-tested habits and philosophies, such as "Pay yourself first," "Save now, save always, save often," and "Interest is interesting when it compounds, collects, and continues to grow."
Dream Boards - walk your students through a lesson where they learn to visualize their goals and aspirations and create collages that are visual representations of what they want their future lives to look like.
