We have all had those days of returning to the classroom after tragedy and trauma, and bullies such as storms, illness, death, or loss. If these events are difficult for us, it is even more difficult for our students to cope with. This is a light, humorous poem about a little sapling Palm Tree who faces his first storm. It is a scientific fact that Palm Trees survive storms by leaning with the wind, and staying flexible until they are flattened on the ground. Slowly, after the storm is over and the sun comes out-they bounce back. This is appropriate for all ages and is inspirational in nature. It is a Fable and ends with a moral. The moral is: WHEN THE STORMS AND STRUGGLES HIT LIKE A BUCKING BRONCO-CHILL, RELAX AND REMEMBER, THIS ISN'T YOUR FIRST RODEO!
