Product Description
Build a daily discipline of fluency and comprehension work in your classroom with the medium that students love most: POETRY!

This product was written for 4th grade and includes 36 weeks of literacy-rich materials. (+300 pages!)

It is intended for students to use independently and with partners. As the teacher, all you need to do is print the pages, and you will be free to work on independent assessments of reading goals! (I print the read and reflection pages back-to-back for the students' reading binders, so they only have 3 pages for the week instead of an onslaught of papers. If you are feeling extra on-top-of-things at the beginning of the year, you could print and bind the pages for each student. There are 2 cover page options for you if you go this route.)

Each week, students receive a new poem, and each day leads them through different reflections. The latest **update** swapped the days of the week (Monday, Tuesday, etc.) for the number day (Day #1, Day #2), so you are not bound to a certain day. Follow at your own pace. The rhythm of the reflection pages is consistent, but the questions are varied and cover appropriate reading skills for fourth grade:

- phrasing
- intonation
- rate

- author’s purpose
- compare & contrast
- making connections (text to self, text, and world)
- inference
- mood
- questioning
- summarize
- textual evidence
- theme
- tone
- visualization
- word collection

Literary Devices:
- alliteration
- metaphor
- onomatopoeia
- personification
- rhyme scheme
- simile
- syllable focus

All of the daily read and reflection pages come with teacher guides, so you can see ideas for how students can answer them.
