Do you use a Poem of the Week program in your classroom? You can use poems to teach comprehension strategies, phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, and fluency. The poems are perfect for close reading and the accompanying activities encourage student reflection and response.

There are 40 original poems included in this resource. Many of these poems have activities that supplement the learning. Use the poems to teach science or social studies content within your reading block. Use them to generate class discussions or inspire student writing. Put them in a center for fluency practice or use them in a small group guided reading lesson. Encourage students to bring the poems home and read them to their families.
