Shared reading through poetry is a fantastic way to get your class reading. This resource includes a poem for every week of the school year, for every theme, season, and even different curriculum concepts! There are over 50 poems in total!!
Each poem includes follow up tasks that reinforce various concepts in literacy, math, science or social studies. These follow up tasks can be done in class, or sent home for students to complete with their families.
Some examples of literacy concepts touched on:
- compound words
- spelling patterns
- rhyming words
- descriptive writing
- creative writing
- providing evidence from the text
