ADDED ONE MORE LOWER VERSION, THEN CUT THE PRICE!
Three adapted 'high', 'medium' and 'low' versions of THE TELL-TALE HEART. These versions just make the original more accessible to mature students who simply lack advanced reading skills to follow the flowery early 19th century writing.
* They are not a basic retelling or a summary full of simple sentences. The complex structure, menacing tone and voice of Poe is retained.
* The preview shows the three versions of the same section adapted from the original story so you can compare.
* The levels are based on the WIDE range of reading levels (3rd to 9th) of my classroom population of low income, high ELL/ESL 7/8 grade students.
The versions still read as 'mature' texts for those in middle school and high school so they won't feel the shame as if they are reading a children's book while the others read the 'real' story. These adaptations allow for a truly leveled and differentiated reading activity but with the convenience - and FUN - of the whole class talking about the same short story.
The 'low' version is the first story in the file.
Assessment (both written and multiple choice answer, Common Core style) and activities for this and THE CASK OF AMONTILLADO by Edgar Allan Poe coming soon!
