This is a short chart that contains most of the common poetic devices used in understanding and analyzing poems.
Each term is followed by a defintion and an example. There is also space for students to create an original example.
Teacher Note (TN): you can have students create the examples as you go through and review the terms. Then have the students share their original examples before moving on to the next term.
Option 2: Go over ALL the terms then let students work in pairs to create examples.
