This is a great activity to teach poetic devices to your students. Not only does it give students a pneumonic to remember the different poetic devices, it calls on students to locate and interpret them in a poem.
Because this is a graphic organizer, it can be used all year long with different poems and with different grade levels.
Great for independent practice as well as whole class instruction.
Students list the letter for what they found (m for metaphor, r for rhyme) and then on the lines provided, they write the words from the poem that demonstrate that devices.
Students can even use this graphic organizer to reflect upon their own writing.
