Need an easy-to-use reference to give to students that contains definitions and examples of poetic elements?
This one-page chart might just do the trick :-) This reference tool is perfect for copying onto the back of a poem or for review. The chart contains definitions and examples for 12 major poetic elements: allusion, hyperbole, idiom, internal rhyme, metaphor, meter, onomatopoeia, personification, rhyme scheme, simile, slant rhyme, and stanza.
In addition to the one-page chart, a second is included that contains a resized version that can print two copies of the chart on a single 8.5 x 11 sheet. This makes it an ideal size for use with an interactive notebook.
If you would like a copy of the chart PLUS an activity that can help introduce or review poetic elements, check out my listing for a unique, one-day activity featuring my own original poem that contains 12 poetic elements.
