Description

Looking for fun poetry activities for middle school? This gallery walk set is a great way to expose your students to different kinds of poetry. There are nine different poetic forms covered, and each one has 4-12 examples of curated poems; consider it a poetry 'sampler'! Posters and cards for each poem are included so you can hang the posters for a gallery walk or have students pass the cards around while staying seated.

You could also use the cards for a poetry hunt, just hide them and challenge students to find them!

Poetic Forms Included:

· Concrete or Shape Poetry x4

· Couplet x 12

· Epitaph x 12

· Free Verse x 8

· Haiku x 6

More poetry activities for middle school:

This resource pairs well with my poetry analysis slideshow so students have a chance to analyse and discuss some of the poems. I also provide students with a poetry notebook so they can try writing their own poems! As a final project, have students make a poetry anthology and make marking easy on yourself with these handy criteria sheets and rubrics!
