Product Description
I created this from the Florida Collections materials for a more hands-on response to the two poems: "A Voice" by Pat Mora and "Words Like Freedom" by Langston Hughes. The text is displayed with guided questions alongside, as well as discussion points. Students are prompted to analyze figurative language, tone, and impact of word choice. Finally, there is a short review to practice identifying figurative language.
I have included a key!

My students enjoyed this handout, as a change from answering questions straight out of the book! The guided questions prompt students to slow down and reread stanzas to analyze each poem.
