Teach poetry analysis with confidence and save money using these poetry mini units for all 9 poems on the 4th & 5th grade CCSS ELA Text Exemplar list. You can set up poetry centers, use these with small groups, with guided reading groups, or as whole class instruction. There's so many options with this set.
Structure For Use - Choose the Duration and Speed That Works Best for YOU:
- Teach one poet and poem each month of the year.
- Read the poem and focus on one poetry analysis question a day
- Set up a center or rotation with 3-4 tables with a task card on each table. Have students rotate to tables and discuss the question.
- Teach a 1-2 week intensive unit surrounding the poet and poem. Use the poem each day for 12 days.
- Teach the poet and poem in a week

I do not believe these four poems are in the public domain, therefore due to copyright laws, I can’t include them in this set, but I have included links to websites where you might find them online. I have also included a template for you to place the student version of he poem. (Note: I am not selling the links; they are provided as a convenience.)
