PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This activity includes two versions. The first is an easy version that I typically use for a standard level class. It includes 3 poems: "I Hear America Singing" by Walt Whitman, "I,Too" by Langston Hughes, and "Harlem, A Dream Deferred" by Langston Hughes. Students are asked several questions to analyze the poems and are specifically asked to compare Whitman's poem to Hughes "I,Too." The 2nd version is typically used for a more advanced class. This version include 5 poems: "I Hear America Singing" by Walt Whitman, "I,Too" by Langston Hughes, "Harlem, A Dream Deferred" by Langston Hughes, "Dreams" by Langston Hughes, and "I Look at the World" by Langston Hughes. In this activity, students are asked to analyze and compare the the meanings of "I Hear America Singing" and "I,Too." Then students are asked to analyze the last three poems.
