This CCSS Aligned unit will teach your students to deeply analyze any poem in five easy steps! These steps are laid out to students in an easy to teach Google Slides Presentation OR PowerPoint Presentation. The lesson plan is easy to pick up and teach!
Then students can practice navigating the exciting world of poetry with the (digital and/or printable) student packet, with detailed graphic organizers for each of the five steps. These steps will lead your students towards a quality literary response on any given poem!
Also included, information on close reading strategies. To read any poem well, students must be able to annotate the text! Step one will ask students to annotate the text. A graphic organizer is provided for students who are unable to annotate directly on the text. I have found this graphic organizer to be extremely helpful when students are given a school supplied collection of Shakespeare’s Sonnets (book) or are reading digital copies of poetry.
