Small group activity in which students analyze various songs.
3 songs pre-determined based on reading levels- These songs are tiered for differentiation to meet the needs of your lower achieving, middle achieving, and higher achieving students.

This lesson teaches the standards:
• RL.8.4 Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including figurative and connotative meanings; analyze the impact of specific word choices on meaning and tone, including analogies, or allusions to other texts.
• SL.8.1 Engage effectively in a range of collaborative discussions (one-on-one, in groups, and teacher-led) with diverse partners on grade 8 topics, texts, and issues, building on others’ ideas and expressing their own clearly.
• L.8.6 Acquire and use accurately grade-appropriate general academic and domain-specific words and phrases; gather vocabulary knowledge when considering a word or phrase important to comprehension expression.
