This is the third book in a series of 7 poetry books for Kindergarten to Year 6. As a resource tool, these great little poetry books can be used:

1. To enrich children’s literary experiences through the world of poems, rhymes, odes, ballads, free verse stories and fun jingles. There are many examples of limericks, Haiku poems, acrostic and cinquains.

2. To use as an oral reading program. This set presents a sequential structure of levelled texts, designed to be read aloud. Reading poems builds students’ fluency levels, as well as teaches them how to read to the punctuation of a text.

3. To develop students’ knowledge of poetic and language features that add description, or enhance texts in other ways. These texts use a range of language features, including:

● similes

● metaphors

● personification

● hyperbole

● repetition

● rhetorical questions

● assonance

● alliteration

● onomatopoeia

● rhyme

● sensory detail

4. To use to teach students how to write their own poems. This set is an extensive resource of different types of poems to give students ideas and knowledge of poetic structures in order to craft their own.

Teachers will not find such an extensive and useful set of poetry models and ideas in one resource – anywhere, and at such reasonable prices!
