**DIGITAL/GOOGLE DRIVE ACCESSIBLE or PRINT FRIENDLY**
Poetry can be intimidating for students, which is why I get students up and moving around to ease the jitters. This activity has students walking around the classroom, hallway, etc. to read poems. Students will "view" or read six different poems and identify the type of poem for each one. To dig even deeper, the students will perform a second walk, to analyze each poem for poetic devices.
Students can record their answers on a response log and use an attached "cheat sheet" with the types of poems, poetic devices, and definitions. Check for understanding after the assignment using the included answer key.
Google Doc links are embedded so that the activity can be copied to your personal drive for printing or, even better, assign the response log and cheat sheet to the students on a digital platform, such as Google Classroom.
