Description

This assignment incorporates high quality writing through writer's workshop, history, research, and literary analysis. It's a challenging assignment, but one the students really enjoyed because they had a lot of autonomy in their poet, poems, and the direction they took the paper in. Even my most reluctant writers really enjoyed doing the research and conferencing with me on these! It situates the writing in context and connects to writing as a vehicle of power and wide communication. This is a great cross-curricular end-of-unit activity.
