These are three separate jigsaw lessons to be used in any English Language Arts classroom when studying poetry. Each lesson bundles four poems on a shared theme (war, race, and death). By following the included instructions, students are put into homogenous groups to study a poem, then heterogeneous groups to instruct the poem to their peers. Each poem includes several thought-provoking questions to stimulate student discussion.
The poems included in this bundle are:
"APO 96225" by Larry Rottmann
"Cross" by Langston Hughes
"Crossing the Bar" by Alfred, Lord Tennyson
"Do Not Stand By My Grave and Weep" by Mary Elizabeth Frye
"I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" by Maya Angelou
"Incident" by Countee Cullen
"The Man He Killed" by Thomas Hardy
"On Being Asked For a War Poem" by William Butler Yeats
