This can accompany a two or three week unit that allows students to keep track of seemingly mundane events in their lives for the purpose of a "poetry journal." It is differentiated for three levels, and students begin by brainstorming ways figurative language is used in poems already read as a class. They then take the examples that they find, depending on the level of student, and apply them to a topic of their choosing. An introduction lesson plan is available for purchase also.
