I print these on labels to adhere to the cover of a spiral notebook for each student. I use shared reading poems twice a week to teach word families and blends, as well as other phonics skills and reading strategies. Students have these poems collected in the Poetry Journal as I copy them, trim them, and students glue them in and we "mark them up." By the end of the year my first graders are amazed that they can read all the poems we had! They can also choose to read this journal during Read to Self in the Daily 5 block or Literacy Center.
