A multi-grade level assignment in several parts. Can be used as an entire Unit or in individual components. I used this by doing notes and then class-sourcing examples of the terms at the front of the booklet, followed by a one by one take on each poem type one or two at a time.
My format was: Introduce the rules or structure of the poem type, show an example, do a close reading of the example as a class, have the students write 2-3 of each poem type covered, and then get into small groups to share what they've written, finally followed by a whole class share of the poems students are willing to share.
You may edit or cut whatever you wish of this mini-unit, however.
