I hope this is what you're looking for!
This was the culminating project for my poetry unit. Students chose a poet, analyzed their poems, and completed a Poet Style Analysis Essay.

Page 3: Author list and where you can find their poems online. I used Fred Chappell, Robert Frost, Longfellow, Poe, Blake, Elizabeth B. Browning, Nikki Giovanni, Emily Dickinson, and Pablo Neruda. I had published books of their works in class that we used because my school has limited technology. Feel free to let them choose their own poet or make your own list.
Page 4 & 5: This is the sheet and graphic organizer I created to help lead them through the steps of analyzing. Remember, they are coming from no background at all, so the sheet designed for that.
Page 6: A guideline of their final paper. At this point they are already familiar with MLA formatting, but there are a few reminders.
Page 7: A rubric for the paper. I left the point values blank for your convenience. Sections included are introduction, two body paragraphs, conclusion, MLA formatting and citations, and grammar.
Page 8, 9, & 10: This is the example paper. We did the Wadsworth poems as a class and came up with the examples. The example paper is using what the students came up with. The highlighting in the paper is used to point out all the different ways to incorporate quotations. The example works cited includes how to cite a book and and internet source.
