If you are seeking for your students to use higher order thinking skills, this simple test is the one for you! So you've given the big poetry unit test and some students didn't do so well. They ask for a retake, and you don't want to just let them take the same test over again so that they could try to memorize which answers go where. They are not learning anything doing that.
This Poetry Retake test is a one-page analyzation test with answer key. The test uses Blake's poem "To the Evening Star" and asks five essential questions that force the student to analyze the poem like a standardized test does. The test asks about rhyme scheme, meter, and a few of the poetic techniques found. It also has an essay question taking three of the major symbols of the poem and asking for perceived symbolism and how they all are related to each other.
