This short lesson is designed to engage young students in poetry. Students will read Edwin Hoey's, 'Foul Shot.' They will be asked to identify nouns, adjectives, verbs, and adverbs (easily adaptable for challenge). Students will then write a short poem based on a series of sports photos shown. For each photo they are to identify one noun, adjective, verb, and adverb from the photo (again this is easily adaptable). Once they identify at least one of each language feature, they will then arrange their words in any order they choose, to form a Diamante poem.
