I used this lesson for language arts and it also goes with reading. I used the poems and wrote them on chart paper. Then the students got the 4 square response paper. I put the students into groups and they had to silently read the poem and answer the question by writing. They were not allowed to speak to each other and they had to convey their response by writing. Then when they were finished with one poem they would rotate to the next until they finished all four. Afterwards we discussed their answers and justify why they picked the answers they did.
