Description
Objectives
- By the end of this activity, students will understand the concept of rhyme scheme and apply their knowledge to examples of poetic language in both Spanish and English.
- The students will have the opportunity to write their own short verse following a rhyme scheme of their own selection, in Spanish, and then translate it to English.
Activity Summary
By reading a definition of rhyme scheme and identifying the rhyme scheme in two samples of poetic language, one in Spanish and one in English, students will learn about the importance of rhythm and rhyme. Once students have correctly identified the rhyme scheme of the two samples, they will try writing their own rhyming verse with an identifiable and clear rhyme scheme.
