This is a fabulous writing activity that students and parents love. It also makes a great bulletin board or hallway display. Students compare themselves now to another age or year. The first line of this poem starts with "I used to be..." and the second line begins with, "But now I am..." I have included step-by-step "specific" comparisons that students can make. Each two lines they complete makes one stanza.
After 10-20 stanzas (depending on age and ability), students (or you) can type these. Students can bring in a picture of when they were younger and you can take a picture of them today. Both can be uploaded to the typed poem. It's very easy to do. This "Me Poetry" project will be a definite keepsake. I have included a sample of finished product, along with directions.
