This fourteen page cut and paste poetry activity is a review of seventeen different types of poems and figurative language. After these have been taught, you can use this as a review or as an assesment. Students cut out the words, their definitions, and the examples. Students then match each of the words to their definitions and examples then glue them onto the template provided.
My colleagues and I have done this activity with our classes and the students enjoyed completing it. It is a good, hands on review, or it could easily be used as an end of instruction test.
The types poems and figurative language that are included are:
Included in this packet are the vocabulary words, their matching definitions, and all but three examples. The examples not included are: rhythm, meter, and stanza (only because it was difficult to show an example that was self explanatory for these three words). The students will find easy to understand directions, as well as an answer template. All your students need in order to complete this activity are glue and scissors. You will find an answer template that can be copied for the students to glue their answers onto with ease, or you could use a large piece of paper as well. Also included is an answer key for easy grading.
