In this inquiry based, discovery activity students graph lines to find slopes and points on the lines and then compare those numbers to the equations of lines in modified* point slope form. The goal of this activity is to help students make observations about the information that can be found in the equation of a line in modified point slope form. Students construct their own meaning and understanding, and will be making observations and answering critical thinking questions that will help them to make sense of the equation of a line in modified point slope form.
This download also includes two column notes pages on graphing lines in modified point slope form.
*modified point slope form y=m(x-h)+k, (h,k) is a point on the line
