Product Description
As students are developing skill fluency, teachers must formatively assess, or check for understanding, to determine whether to reteach or move to new content. This five-question formative assessment will assist teachers in doing just that. It is scaffolded, such that there are questions on multiple thinking levels in order for teachers to know where the knowledge or skill breaks down for a particular student.

Students will first answer a basic identify/define question. This will let the teacher know if the student understands the concept/topic. Next, students will answer increasingly challenging questions so the teacher knows if the student can perform the skill at a beginning, intermediate, or advanced level.

Because the assessment is only five questions, it is quick for students to take and easy for teachers to grade. Teachers quickly have data on student performance and can regroup students, remediate, or enrich in order to ensure all students master the content and grow their reading skills.
