During a mini-lesson on Point of View, my 3rd graders and I developed an anchor chart to explain first and third person. I then used mentor texts to explain the differences ("My Name is Yoon"- First Person, "Chrysanthemum"- Third Person). I read aloud from a few other books/poems and had students differentiate between first and third person. NOTE: "The Race" and "Raccoon Rex" were poems I printed off from superteacherworksheets.com. We stuck the picture of the book/poem under the correct heading on the anchor chart. This handout matched our anchor chart and my students kept them in the "mini lesson" section of their reading notebooks to refer to when needed. This handout is editable, so feel free to copy/paste pictures of your own mentor texts! Enjoy!
