I created this product to use with my middle school students. My students use these in their interactive notebooks. I find interactive notebooks help students with staying engaged in lessons. I also love that the students’ notes and examples are in one place. That makes for easy review when it is time to get ready for a test. The students also have examples to work with as we use the academic vocabulary with other lessons throughout the year.
I print these interactive notebook pages scale to fit paper. Depending on your printer, you might have to adjust the percentage to get the pages to fit a composition book. I sometimes print the pages at a percentage. Do a test page to see if you like the size. : ). I also run some of the pages off using card stock (bright colors). I use card stock for the pages that will get more use or for vocabulary words that I want to stand out.
This set includes words with definitions and examples. I put these on camera shapes to show that point of view is a lens to view the story. The students will also get practice working with how the point of view in a story or story (narrative) poem helps the reader understand a character or situation better. Another page gives students a chance to practice analyzing point of view from a teacher selected reading from one of the teacher’s resources. I made this page generic so that teachers could use some of their own favorite poems or stories with it. Students also have a chance to write about the point of view by using a paragraph fill in the blank template. I find that students improve in their writing when I give them practice with paragraph templates. The templates guide the students so that they know what they could include in their paragraphs.
