Here are two nonfiction passages to help when teaching students how to distinguish an author's point of view (RI3.6).
This is perfect to assess students' understanding and to determine if they can distinguish the author's point of view using evidence from the text. Students have to determine if they agree or disagree with the other and explain with reasons.
Two writing prompts are also attached for students to practice developing their own viewpoints.
This is great practice for the TRC component of Reading 3D.
