Product Description
In this activity, students will analyze a photograph and determine varying points of view of characters related to the photograph. Then, students will write a short story to match their picture.

Step-by-Step:
1. Allow each student to select a picture that interests them, or project one of the pictures and complete the activity whole group. There are 22 photographs included in this activity pack.

2. Encourage students to analyze their picture very carefully. Encourage students to make inferences based on their pictures. Ask these guiding questions…
~ What is happening in your photograph?
~ What is the setting?
~ How did the characters get involved in this situation?
~ Who is in your photograph? Who are your characters?
~ What are your character’s names?
~ What is each character thinking?
~ What will your characters say to each other?
~ Why is your character feeling this way?
~ What will happen next?
There are no perfect answers, so students can make educated guesses based off the information in the photographs.

3. Students will complete the graphic organizer. The graphic organizer will help students outline each character’s point of view. Students will explain how different characters have different perspectives on the same situation.

4. Students will write a short story based on the actions in the photograph. Encourage students to incorporate dialogue to help show each character’s point of view. An additional writing page is available for longer stories.
