This file includes a 13 slide PowerPoint to introduce the different types of Point of View: first person, second person, third person limited, and third person omniscient. Also included are “Guess the Point of View” slides to put your student’s learning into practice!
Along with the PowerPoint, there are three different kinds of notes that would be perfect for differentiation or scaffolding in your classroom. Choose the options that works best for you and your students and what you are teaching:
1. A single page booklet of fill-in notes. You can put in a folder or binder, or glue it into your reading notebooks. You will need to print front to back for this option and fold in half to create the booklet. This corresponds with the PowerPoint or you can use other materials to fill in the boxes.
2. A single page of fill-in notes that can be put into a folder or binder. This corresponds directly with the PowerPoint. (More of a scaffolded option)
3. Two different versions (one that includes second person and one that doesn’t) of a foldable that can be glued into their reading notebooks. This is blank and can be used with different materials, including this PowerPoint.
Once your students have learned all about Point of View and written down the important information, you will want them to put it into practice. The interactive Point of View Map is a PERFECT tool to help them figure out what point of view their novel is written in!
