Description

This is a set of five stations that are focused on point of view. Included are the directions for each station, the manipulatives, as well as a station checklist to mark for completion of stations. The terms covered are narrator, voice, tone, unreliable narrator, first person point of view, second person point of view, third person limited point of view, and third person omniscient point of view.

Print Usage

You can print the directions and manipulatives on paper or cardstock and then laminate to make the materials more durable. If you don't have access to a laminator, you can put the direction sheets inside a plastic page protector to help them last longer. Two copies of the stations are included, one color and one black and white line (ink-friendly) version depending on your printing capabilities. There is a station number at the bottom right hand corner of each manipulative for easy sorting and also included is a blank direction slide and a blank manipulative slide if you would like to create your own additional stations.

This is a great activity for special education students or lower level readers because you can eliminate the manipulatives used correctly and then focus on reviewing what the students did not understand. The stations encourage group work and engage your tactile learners. 

If you are comfortable with movement in your classroom set up the six stations throughout your classroom and have groups of students move through the stations. If you are not comfortable with having the students move around in your classroom, moving the stations is another option. Using a timer creates a sense of urgency. You can also time students to create a sense of competition. Use the station checklist to track which stations groups have completed and/or use the recording form to have students record their answers. Groups that finish early can also use the manipulatives to quiz each other.

Digital Usage

The Google Slides containing the directions for each station and the manipulatives are ready for immediate use and do not require any preparation on your part. Be sure to assign the Slides so that each student has their own copy. You could have students work together in groups through Google Meet or Zoom or have students complete the stations individually and then check their work with a peer using the included Google Form. Just as with hands-on use, you could also time students to create a sense of competition.
