Product Description
This unit is designed to enhance student understanding of the point of view of both the Loyalists and the Patriots in the time period leading up the Revolutionary War. Students will be researching from the perspective of one side and developing reasons that support why a neutral colonist should join their fight. After each team has an opportunity to explore opinions regarding different topics of discussion, a debate will be staged. The students will practice with their public speaking and attentive listening skills to participate in a live debate about the issues the colonists faced. After the debate component, each student will be writing a persuasive opinion letter to a neutral colonist to "win" them over and gain another supporter.
