This is a simplified overview of Pointillism, founded by Georges Seurat. It gives a brief background of how Seurat came to develop the movement after van Gogh and the Impressionists. It features several short fill-in-the-blank statements that I use to ensure students are paying attention while being introduced to the subject.
I use this worksheet as a guideline for introducing Pointillism before having students begin a project inspired by Seurat. It can be used with upper elementary or middle school grades (I use it for sixth grade).
