Pokémon Go …”Catch” a Pokémon word family and help it “evolve” into a word!
Students will love practicing their word families (welded sounds) and digraphs & chunks with this interactive game. Print and laminate the Pokémon cards, lay them out on a table (you choose how many to lay out at a time) and have students take turns saying the sounds. Give each player a Poke Ball card. The adult (or students can take turns) calls out a card sound, and the students “catch” it by placing a Poke Ball on it. Students can combine cards to create or “evolve” cards into real words.
Full alphabet cards are included too.
To add to the fun, place a Velcro strip on a fly swatter (glue the Poke Ball card on top) and small Velcro dots on each Pokémon sound card. Students take turns catching the Pokémon and saying the sound or combining cards to create words !
There are many other ways to use these cards!
This activity is great for literacy centers and small group instruction.
52 word fam & digraphs, 26 Alphabet CARDS
