Rhyming Word Game: Pokémon Catch- (Short-E word Family)
Students will love practicing RHYMING WORDS with this interactive game. There are several ways to do this activity.
A. Pick a Rhyme-(2 to 4 players)
Print and laminate the Pokémon cards
and lay them out on a table (spread out and face up).
(there are 4 rhyming words per word family- you many choose to put all cards out or only a few from each family- depending on how many players)
Give each player a Poke Ball card
Players take turns being the “leader” by reading /showing their Poke Ball Card.
Other players then “CATCH” the Pokémon by picking up one card that RHYMES with that Poke Ball card (Optional- ask each player to read the card they picked up or ask leader to read or “check” each card for rhyme accuracy).
B. Catch-To add to the fun, place a Velcro strip on a fly swatter (glue the Poke Ball card on top) and small Velcro dots on each Pokémon RHYME WORD card. Students take turns “catching” the Pokémon Rhyming Words that matches their Poke Ball.
C. Sort-Use Poke Balls as “headers” and have students sort words into correct pile.
