Inspired by the most addicting and popular app, but with an educational twist! Pokémon have been stolen by Team Rocket and it is up to the students to catch them all and return them to their owner! This activity lists coordinates of world capitals around the globe. If students correctly identify the world capital and its country, they successfully capture the Pokémon hidden at those coordinates. There are 50 sets of coordinates in all, for which I purposely selected cities and countries that are prominent in the news today and in common curriculum for world history.
This could be used as an in-class activity or challenge, or homework practice. The kids love bragging about how many Pokémon they captured and how quickly they did it! Enjoy.
