Here's how it works...
The CATCHY RHYMING CLUES lead students to the:
Spanish Teacher, Art Teacher, Gym Teacher, Music Teacher, Librarian, School Nurse, Secretary, Principal, Reading Specialist, Math Support Teacher, the Guidance Counselor, & the playground
Select ONLY the clues you would like to use. I recommend using the ones of the people your kids will see the most frequently! With kindergarten, I use about 6 or 7 of the clues because my kids do not have specials until first grade. If you plan on using all clues, you can split the hunt into two days if necessary. Older kids will love doing the entire hunt at once!
COPY: Print clues, cut in half, and laminate. Print out POKEMONS, cut out if you wish, and laminate. Decide the order in which you will travel and arrange the clues in that order. Copy PokeBalls & Coloring Pages.
Print out the LETTER TO STAFF MEMBERS and distribute or email a similar message to those involved. My co-workers LOVE getting on board with this! It’s fun and helpful that the kids get to know the faces of those teachers/ staff members they will see the most often!
On the day before the hunt., deliver the clues to the participating members. They will need the cut out Pokemon along with the clue that leads the kids to the next PokeStop!
ON POKEMON HUNT DAY, have the kids color the included POKEBALLS half red and cut out to take along on the hunt. You can always use ping pong balls and color half red and have the kids bring them along on the hunt. WARNING TO NEW KINDERGARTEN TEACHERS: Using actual balls may be dangerous with new kindergarten students! I can envision them bouncing all over the hallway. We will be using the included paper ones! Another option is making balls out of Model Magic and coloring with marker.
Read the kids the first clue with Misty and Ash on it, and you are on your way! When you return from the hunt, have the kids complete the included COLORING PAGE or WRITING PAGE!
Also included are 6 BLANK TEMPLATES where you can write in a clue of your own in case you have someone else you would like the children to meet along the way!
Have fun! I am so excited to share this with YOU and try it out myself! In the past, I have done a similar activity as a
KINDERGARTEN BEAR HUNT
. Since Pokemon is so popular with the kids right now, I thought I would change it up a bit! I would love feedback from you on how this works out!
Thank you so much for looking!
