Play this activity with 1st and 2nd graders as a way to reinforce pathways. Print, laminate and cut out each of the Pokemon slides within the Powerpoint. Tape each Pokemon card towards the top of their own tall cone/a spot on a wall. Underneath each Pokemon card, tape a pathway card. Keep the order the same as it is in this powerpoint (i.e Charmander card is matched with the Squirtle pathway card underneath, the Squirtle card is matched with the Bulbasaur pathway card underneath etc). Spread the cones with the Pokemon on them out around your gym. Have each student start at a Pokemon of their choice. Before moving, they must look at the pathway card on that cone which tells them which Pokemon they must go to next as well as the pathway they must use to get there. Encourage the student to use their eyes first in order to find where that next Pokemon is and then perform (fill in the blank) locomotor skill in the listed pathway to get there. Once they get there, they will read the new sign which will tell them what Pokemon and what pathway to find/move in next!
All in all, there are 52 different Pokemon the students will make there way to using all 3 pathways throughout their travels. As long as you print all of the cards, the students will be moving through a continuous loop (i.e. the last slide of this powerpoint connects back to the first Pokemon).
